About This Project
This custom home was built with the concept of aging in place. The purpose of the design is to enable the owners to remain in the house as they age. The necessary design modifications are subtle and actually are an intelligent way to build a home at any age.
For example, doorways and hallways are wider to accommodate possible wheelchair use. Cabinets are laid out for easy access from any level. Electrical outlets can be reached from a sitting position. Door handles are lever style making them easier to operate. Exterior entries provide level, step-free access.
